This is a webpage to share chess games with friends. Just like any other pastebin it is fairly easy to add posts. No registration, name or email is required, the game is what matters. So whenever you need to share a game with somebody or link to a game rather than a PGN feel free to put the game up here. If you find any issues, problems with this site you can contact me at toomasr[at]gmail.com.

can i put a game here and appear on my favebook wall????? or just only the link its going to appear??

  • A link and a picture will appear.

  • Pascal

Very nice tool, I use it a lot.  Some remarks:
Using wordpress, when you include the code, the Iframe code should be on one line. The solution is simpel: removing the enters.

  • Pascal

Secondly, the new Add a game! function (with a popup) does not work in IE (version 9). This is not due to popup blockers, and can be reproduced on my friend computer too.
    Firefox is no problem.

  • I’ll get both fixed and let you know, thanks for reporting.

  • Bro

How does a site like this not exist for so long without FEN input for position previews?

  • You can use fen also, see http://pgnview.edicypages.com/demos

  • Bro

It seems you misunderstand my question. How can I just paste FEN to view and play on a board here? I get the following message when trying that: “ERROR: Your pasted shiznit does not make sense in PGNish, please verify!”. So it does NOT accept FEN input by itself.

  • Just pasting a FEN won’t do. Needs to wrapped in a PGN header. For example

    [Event “white to move”]
    [FEN “rn2r1k1/ppq2pb1/2pp2pp/8/2PQn1b1/1PN2NP1/PB3PBP/3RR1K1 w – – 0 17”]

    produces the following game http://www.chesspastebin.com/2012/09/26/unknown-unknown-by-noname-474/

    Does this solve your issue?

  • Bro

It does… but is there any way you can remove this requirement and make it possible to just paste the FEN?

  • Bob

how can i a copy a pgn of a game already on this website?

  • Easiest is to click the link PGN next to each game, it is in the top right corner of the game window.

  • Vince H

Hi! Is there a way to show a larger board on the pastebin pages?

  • Is it possibile to delete a game?

  • You can give me the links and I can do it for you.

  • Not at the moment but what exactly would you have in mind?

  • Hmm, but you can specify FEN also in the PGN.

  • Vince H

I’d call the current board “Small”, and add a “Medium” and “Large” option. Just makes it easier for oldsters like me to see the game.

  • Not sure as what was wrong but the requested page is working now.

I get a server error as well – I can not open any page for a single game! The only way i can view a game is if i go to the monthly archive page. I’m using chrome on windows 7, but switching to mozilla, and trying both browsers on windows 8, I still can not view them. I’ve disabled extensions such as ad block as well.

I can not load any page for a game! The only way i can view a game is if i go to the monthly archive page and don’t try to go to the games individual pages. I’m using chrome on windows 7, but switching to mozilla, and trying both browsers on windows 8, I still can not view them. I’ve disabled extensions such as ad block as well. I come here once or twice a week, and I’ve noticed this problem a few weeks ago and figured it was a freak incident. Unfortunately this is not the case – the link Sergiu provided in his comment doesn’t load either. I’m not sure what could be causing it, but I thought you would like to know.

  • Something is wrong, trying to figure what is the deal. I’ll let you know shortly.

  • How is it looking now? Hopefully fixed for good.

  • How about now?

  • Jaryd Dutton

It’s all working now, nice work!

  • M

It’s great, but it would be nice to have coordinates (A-H/1-8) on the board, so that games can also be shared with novice players.

  • SkySpiral7

I found a few errors. First when uploading the pgn:n1. b1-c3 a7-a6 2. c3-d5nI get “ERROR: Your pasted PGN is not valid. Please verify!” it is in fact valid but it requires me to add “N” for the second move.nnSecondly on the “Add a game!” page the preview does not show up at all for Internet Explorer 11 and does not function in Chrome 38 or FireFox 31.nnThirdly from what I read pgn supports single line comments that start with a ; but this results in error:n1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6n;This opening is called the Ruy Lopez.n4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Be7

  • Thanks for the feedback. I see that you are using the long algebraic notation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algebraic_notation_(chess)#Long_algebraic_notationnnThe closest the library supports is the Yahoo format which is Long Algebraic but it always starts with a comment. I can probably tweak the algorithm to detect the format without this limitation of course.nnThe single line comment is missing, great catch. I’ve tested my library with thousands of games and haven’t seen that comment before. I added support and will update the website soon.nnThanks!

  • David Bandel

any chance you could share the code for your pgn parser?

  • Yeah, it is open source. I’m in the process of moving the code from Google Code ( https://code.google.com/p/jspgnviewer/ ) to Github ( https://github.com/toomasr/jspgnviewer ).

  • Good suggestion, thanks!

  • David Bandel

    that’s awesome. i appreciate it

  • Chesscoach

How do I get the link for a game I placed here so that a friend can log on to it and view the said game? Thanks

  • Chesscoach

How can I add comments/possible variations to a game i will upload here? Thanks

  • Sorry to say but you cannot edit the game after you publish it. If you use the variations in the game then they do show up in the PGN view but they are not clickable.

  • Just share the URL of the page. They’ll end up on the same game page.
