1.e3 e5 {Not sure if this is a good start or not - I figured I'd just go for king's pawn anyway} 2.Nc3 Nc6 {This roughly equalizes the position, according to my engine} 3.Nf3 Nf6 {I'll be honest, I wanted to fishing pole him} 4.Ng1 Bb4 {Not sure why he played this, perhaps throwing the game? Engine suggests d5 in place of my move.} 5.Nb5 d5 {d5 was a move too late. I was thinking the Knight couldn't do anything from here - every square was covered. So I took a centre square.} 6.c3 Ba5 {I wanted to keep my bishop staring down at the kingside and didn't think it would get trapped, so I moved it back. Best was, apparently, Be7.} 7.d4 e4 {This was best on both our parts. I decided to keep the position a bit more closed, thinking that I had both knights developed and he had undeveloped one of his own.} 8.Na3 a6 {Best was castles, but dammit, I wanted to fishing pole him! Loses me about a third of a pawn advantage - I'm sitting about 1 pawn up, positionally, according to my engine.} 9.b4 Bb6 {I feel like this move explains itself.} 10.b5 axb5 {This was best.} 11.Nxb5 Ba5 {I decided to pin the pawn - the pawn on the rook's file is an isolated pawn, so I have a home for it there.} 12.Qa4 Bd7 {Agh, this burns! About 2 moves from now, after I lose the chance to win the queen, I realize my mistake. I was thinking the threats were to pin my knight to my king after a knight move, and that my bishop was now pinned (oh god, how wrong I was). I figured the bishop move both unpinned my knight (by guarding my rook) and broke the absolute pin on my knight.} 13.Ne2 Ne7 {Missed it again... Pinning his knight and moving mine over to the kingside, where I felt like I could mount an attack... Haha, mount. Because it's a knight.} 14.Bd2 c6 {There goes the opportunity! This actually gives him the advantage by about a third of a pawn, a mistake on my part. I wanted to attack his knight and get it out of my side.} 15.Nf4 cxb5 {Yay, free knight.} 16.Qb3 Bc6 {Looking at it, that pawn didn't need to be defending any further.} 17.Bxb5 Qb6 {This was best, on his part. For my move, I was thinking of pinning the bishop. Of course, I noticed it wasn't actually pinned after I made the move. Thankfully, this was not a blunder.} 18.Nxd5 Nexd5 {Huh? Anyway, the engine suggests Nfxd5 instead, though there doesn't seem to be a difference in score - perhaps it's just processing Nexd5 first.} 19.Rb1 Bxb5 {Swinging more heavily in my favor.} 20.c4 Bxd2+ {This is, as far as I can tell, totally winning for me now. My move was best, according to the computer. At 18 ply, my move is suggested. Before that, Bxc4.} 21.Kd1 Bxc4 {I'm very confused at this point, but I'll take free material.} 22.Qc2 Qxb1+ {Wtf is going on here? More free material! Qc7 was suggested instead.} 23.Qxb1 Nc3+ {I was thinking that after Kxd2, Nxb1+, Rxb1, I'm up two minor pieces, a rook, and in a good position. Bb4 was considered better. I'm still easily winning.} 24.Kxd2 Nxb1+ {Continuing as expected.} 25.Rxb1 Rxa2+ {As expected. Rxa2+ was best here.} 26.Kc3 Ra4 {I wanted to defend that bishop - after this, my engine shows me as having forced mate.} 27.Rxb7 Nd5+ {Best for both of us.} 28.Kd2 Ra2+ {Best for me, not for him.} 29.Kc1 O-O {This was best. Brings the rook into a position to join the fight, and this is where my engine breaks down. It's not the best (using Naum 4.2), and it won't analyze a position if there's a forced mate.} 30.Rd7 Rb8 {Brings the rook out to the fight.} 31.f3 g6 {f3 wasn't really a problem, since I was winning anyway. g6 was because I didn't want to get mated on the back rank. In retrospect, this was a waste of time and dumb, since it literally didn't matter anyway. Oh well, I've won at this point.} 32.fxe4 Bd3 {Oh noes, I'm losing material. Bd3 sets up the end.} 33.exd5 Rb1# {Oh noes, more material! Oh wait, it didn't matter. That's a wrap!} 0-1[/pgn]
